Anaheim WONDERCON Was Comic Wonderful!

It’s a Mini Comic-Con – almost like the one in San Diego, but much smaller. It’s fun and filled with merchandise and stars and a real place to meet people, do Cos-Play (that’s wearing costumes of all kinds from superheroes, science fiction, fantasy genres, to even your own creations), and much more!

As the convention center is almost finished being renovated in San Francisco, the WonderCon people have had to move the WonderCon experience to the Anaheim Convention Center, usually on the last weekend in March for the past three years. With guests like director Guillermo del Toro, author Dean Koontz, producer Bryan Fuller, and actor/writer Anthony Montgomery, there were thousands of people attending the three day event.

You can actually get autographs, toys, plush, jewelry, art, posters, models, props, costumes, books, comics, and tons of collectables from all over the globe there. Check out the pictures of costumes, props, toys, and full sized vehicles like the one from Tom Cruise’s forthcoming film Oblivion.

There were autograph sessions with actors like John Saxon (Enter the Dragon), Richard Hatch (Battlestar Galactica), Anne Lockhart (Battlestar Galactica), Peter Mayhew (Star Wars), Lou Ferigno (The Incredible Hulk), Eric Walker (Ewoks: Battle for Endor), Celeste Yarnall (Star Trek), and many more.

There were also panel discussions on topics like Steampunk 101, Breaking into Writing Comics and Hollywood Scriptwriting, Disney Pins: A Collector’s Dream, The Jedi Path: How To Create A Quality Jedi Costume, Gaming: The World of Capcom, and many more.

What impresses me the most is the friendliness of everyone attending the event. Supporting everyone’s interests and seeing groups of people share the same interest from literally the four corners of the planet. A fun time had by all and if you have never been before – you should go at least once to either a WonderCon or Comic-Con itself! You might get hooked. Check them out at Comic-Con.org/wca.
