“Best Burger” addicts should check out The Golden State at 426 N. Fairfax Ave., where they stack the bun with CA ingredients like Harris Ranch beef, Fiscalini cheddar cheese, apple-wood smoked bacon, and Farmers’ Market arugula. Try a side of sweet potato fries. Four Café, converted from a sterile Coldwell financial center to a rustic restaurant by hubby and bride Corey and Michelle Welton is located at 2122 ½ Colorado Blvd. in Eagle Rock. Open since last April, the artistic couple offers a “Warhol-esque” setting for casual lunch and dinner patrons from 11 a.m. til 9 p.m. daily. With appetizing, moderately priced, freshly prepared soups, chili, salads, sandwiches, and desserts menu. The cozy space is narrow and small so counter service is appropriate. The food is fresh and filling and good — even original (try a flank steak salad, $12.50). And speaking of different: The café’s rough hewn wood tables are from a reclaim center in Sun Valley. To contact, visit www.fourcafe.net.
The fabled Bel-Air Hotel has been under remodeling closure for two years and will roll again with a new tenant, the Wolfgang Puck Bel Air Restaurant. The peripatetic celebrity chef is also opening an upscale place in New York City. Tomorrow “the world.”
