Silvana Gallery Exhibits Traditional Art

Silvana Ambar.

In its current exhibition, Glendale’s luxurious Silvana Gallery features a diverse mix of American, Russian and Ukrainian artists who practice traditional schools of painting, sculpture and handcrafts.

Silvana Ambar, an experienced artist for over 30 years and gallery owner for almost two years, holds exhibits almost every month featuring the works of both emerging and established artists.

Most of the paintings in this show favor impressionist standards of flowers, still lifes and landscapes featuring winter scenes, forests and sea coasts. Varuzh Keshishyan’s excellent work favors the deep blues, grays and greens of Cezanne in views of forests and craggy hills. William Galvez’s still lifes of fruit and flowers are reminiscent of old masters.

Alexander Tyunikin and Alexander Britsev employ vivid whites, blues and oranges that strikingly grab the eye. Jennifer McChristian’s paintings capture the small moments of everyday life. Karl Dempwolf’s work of snowy vistas and green fields seem influenced by the shadings of Monet.

Delicate, intricate work highlights the exquisite eggshell art fashioned by Larisa Safaryan from a variety of eggs. Finely crafted metal bindings form elaborate prayer books. Small carved ebony and wood pieces, along with small bronze figures, also populate the show.

Silvana Gallery’s current exhibit features simple but elegant art designed and created by talented artists.

Silvana Gallery’s exhibition of traditional art is open Tues. through Sat. from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 1731 W. Glenoaks Blvd. in Glendale, and continues until September 7. For more information, call .
