Ace Camera, at 3506 West Magnolia in Burbank, opened in 1958 and was in the Berry family until it closed in 2001. The walls of Ace Camera still resonate with words of wisdom to this day but instead of Frank Berry teaching about photography, the rooms are filled with eager students enrolled in Let’s Learn Bookkeeping taught by his daughter-in-law, Jeanne Berry, CPA.
Jeanne has been part of the Burbank community for the past seven years with her very active public accounting practice (www.jberrycpa.com). When you talk to Jeanne, you hear the same passion for accounting and bookkeeping you heard about photography if you were a customer at Ace Camera. In these times of economic uncertainty, Jeanne realized she could provide hope to people looking for ways to support themselves. Berry says, “All businesses need bookkeepers, and well trained bookkeepers are hard to find.” She realized there was a huge gap in vocational training for bookkeeping and Let’s Learn Bookkeeping was born.
Every Friday, Jeanne sponsors a free BBQ for the Magnolia Park business community at her office and business neighbors are invited! Jeanne has designed a course for anyone who wants to gain strong recordkeeping skills. Well-trained bookkeepers earn anywhere from $15-$35 hourly. She offers an internship program between her graduates and the business community, and thinks this will be a real win-win.
