Boy Scout Venture Crew to Hold “Green Eggs and Ham” Breakfast to Honor Theodor Seuss Geisel’s (Dr. Seuss) Birthday
March 2 marks the birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel, who created literary works under the name Dr. Seuss. One such work is the popular Green Eggs and Ham.
“Just to see how many will eat Green Eggs and Ham will be fun,” says Crew Leader and Breakfast Chair Larae Hanks.
“The costs of campsites and travel are cause for fundraising to help our members afford activities. The Crew is composed of boys and girls, ages 14 through 20, and Associate Members ages 12 and 13,” says Hanks, who began as a youth and works today as a key leader with the group at age 22.
“Planning a Carpinteria Beach Camp and a Summer Week in Yosemite, among other outings, motivates the group to be inventive with fundraising,” Hanks says.
The menu will be “Green Eggs and Ham” with a stack of regular, blueberry, corn-fritter, or banana pancakes. A choice of juice, tea, coffee, milk, or a 16 oz. “Tanker” of Hot Chocolate with whipped cream will make the morning fun.
Cartoons will be projected on our 12 x 12 “Big Screen” all morning. The local newspaper for dad and coloring activity pages for all ages will be at your table. Every order will be cooked fresh and delivered by our friendly waiters.
The breakfast will cost $7. Doors open at 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Magnolia Park United Methodist Church (The Lighthouse) located at 2828 W. Magnolia Blvd. in Burbank.
To-Go Orders are available with a large 4-stack of pancakes. If you need further information, email VentureCrew201@Gmail.com.
