California International Theatre Festival Kicks-off August 20-23, 2009
The inaugural season of the California International Theatre Festival kicks-off August 20-23, presented by the City of Calabasas. Award-winning stage and television actress Linda Purl directs the festival, best known for her roles as Charlene Matlock from the series Matlock and as Ashley Pfister, Fonzie’s fiancée, from Happy Days.
The Festival will take place in several Calabasas locations including Viewpoint School and the Calabasas Civic Center, and will include distinguished international productions, including: the fascinating Moby Dick – Ishmael’s Tale, adapted from Melville’s classic adventure novel and performed by Conor Lovett of Ireland (Thurs, Aug. 20th); An Evening with…Sir Donald Sinden, Royal Shakespeare Company veteran from the UK performing a storytelling event under the stars at the Calabasas amphitheatre (Fri, Aug 21st); the magical puppetry performance A Tale of a Lonely Man by Ofer Amram Company of Tel Aviv, Israel (Sat. and Sun., Aug 22nd & 23rd); and a sultry cabaret performance by Giselle Wolf of London (Sat, Aug 22nd). The closing event, A Taste of Calabasas, will be held at the Riviera Restaurant in Calabasas, featuring international cuisine and performances (Sun., Aug 23rd).
Tickets range from $20 – $35 and can be purchased on the Festival’s website at www.citfestival.org, or by calling 800-341-2766. VIP Festival Passports are available for $240, which include premium seating at all performances, as well as the closing gala event. Super-Saturday Passports can be purchased for all shows on Saturday August 22nd for $90, and include admission to a VIP Champagne reception that evening.
