Well, it is that time of year again. Time for summer fun! St. Paul’s First Lutheran School in North Hollywood is hosting its Fifth Annual Sizzling Summer Day Camp Program from June 8 to August 7, 2009.
“St. Paul’s summer is a lot of fun, and you play a lot of fun games. And cook!” says Ethan Coffee, age 9, a veteran of all four St. Paul’s summer camps. His sister Emily, age 13, agrees. “We made Italian ices one day, and we got to eat them right away, which made the hot day go by faster.”
Their mom Kim likes the program because “it’s about the fun. It is a definite break from the school year. But without the kids really noticing they’re still immersed in activities that challenge them intellectually and spiritually.” The camp is fully staffed by St. Paul’s teachers and senior counselors from 7am-6pm daily.
Their dad, Kevin, chimes in with his two cents. “Other summer programs that we looked into elsewhere are incredibly expensive, and the kids end up spending a lot of time away from home. St. Paul’s is a safe, fun environment where the counselors and teachers genuinely care about the kids.”
The program highlights include: swimming, karate, field trips to local Southern California amusement parks, arts and crafts, games, music, science, scrap booking, computers, cooking and Bible studies. In addition, a basketball camp is held July 6-10, with sessions for both girls and boys. Vacation Bible school is included for free August 3 through August 7!

St. Paul’s First Lutheran School is located at 11330 McCormick St., North Hollywood, CA 91601. For more information, visit www.stpaulsfirst.org or call (818) 763-2892. St. Paul’s Sizzlin’ Summer Camp is open Monday-Friday from 7am-6pm and is available for children grades K-6.
