Grammy winning singer-songwriter Rita Coolidge (“Higher and Higher” “We’re All Alone”) and Academy Award winning actor-dancer George Chakiris (“West Side Story”) will receive Lifetime Awards from the Southern California Motion Picture Council at the organization’s “St. Patrick’s Ball” at the Sportsmen’s Lodge in Studio City. The gala event is Monday night March 10 and the public is invited. Tickets include a gourmet buffet dinner and stage show.

Among other celebrities to be honored is Larry Geller, hairdresser to “The King” — the late Elvis Presley.

Coolidge, who famously recorded duets with Kris Kristofferson, has a long recording career and counts among her hits the James Bond movie theme “All Time High.” Besides his iconic award-winning performance in West Side Story, Chakiris has appeared on the international stage and worked for years in television with roles on numerous hit series.

The Southern California Motion Picture Council was founded in 1936 to promote high moral standards in entertainment. They present Golden Halo awards for the best in movies, television, stage plays, and the performing arts. Past winners have included Tippi Hedren, Carol Channing, and Mickey Rooney.

Randal Malone, President of the Council, will serve as Master of Ceremonies. Tickets are $50 in advance, $55 at the door and include dinner. To order tickets contact Elizabeth Gaudino, Event Coordinator, at (626) 794-1968. Visit scmotionpicturecouncil.com.
