Jerome Gregory Williams was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 16, 1965 and passed away in Toluca Lake, California on July 22, 2013 at the age of 48. In 2003 he was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia and was a recipient of a bone marrow transplant. At the time of his passing, Jerome was an actor/filmmaker by profession and held the position of previous President and current Greater Toluca Lake Neighborhood Council board member. He participated in countless community projects, committees, and volunteered his time toward enhancing Toluca Lake.

He was a single father of two wonderful, hardworking young adults. His son Cameron is attending Cornell University and his daughter Mikayla is about to start college. He stated that they were his greatest accomplishments.

“Jerome was a man of great character, an optimist, engaging, inquisitive, always seeking to improve the circumstances of others.” This is why on Sept. 17 at the Honey Baked Ham in Toluca Lake he and his family were presented with a State of California Service Award from Adrin Naxarian, the assembly member of the 46th district, The City of Los Angeles Service Award from Tom LaBonge, the councilmember of District 4, and a Greater Toluca Lake Neighborhood Council Good Neighbor Award from Ryan Altoon, president of the Greater Toluca Lake Neighborhood Council.

Mikayla read something her dad wrote: “God has a way of sending people to you as He did with me that I needed” and that he wanted to “talk about all the wonderful folks in my community … [and what] they had done for me … I owe them a debt of gratitude. And the way to repay that debt is for me to go forward and live the best possible life that I can live. And at the same time be ready to help the next person in need.”
