Halloween Carnival for Camp Ronald McDonald At Universal

Kaycee Stroh delights kids with storytelling at the Halloween Carnival.

There were lots of celebrities at the Camp Ronald McDonald For Good Times’ 18th annual Halloween Carnival presented by Jakks Cares this weekend. But as I looked around the Universal backlot location for the festive event, I saw the real stars were the awesome kids who have attended the camp. And it was fitting that some of the camp volunteers, who try to help the kids have some fun while they fight cancer, were wearing superhero costumes.

So the kid stars and volunteer superheroes mingled with the celebrities and everyone had a great time at the carnival.

Bewitching a crowd of youngsters at the Pumpkin Patch Storytelling area was Kaycee Stroh of the High School Musical movies. She was dressed as a fabulous witch as she read the Halloween tale Frank Was A Monster Who Wanted to Dance. The kids loved it and Kaycee got them all dancing after the story was finished.

Modern Family’s talented youngster Rico Rodriguez was dressed as a really cool pirate, and had his actress-sister Raini with him, who also helped out with storybook time.

As he was strolling along the Trick-or-Treat lane, Gilles Marini was saying, “Look at the faces of the children. Look at all the smiles.” Gilles, the handsome leading man from TV’s Brothers & Sisters, and Dancing with the Stars alumnus was with his wife Carole and kids. He happily posed for pictures with everyone. So did ER’s Mehki Phifer, who was enjoying the day with his family, pulling his son along in a Radio Flyer wagon. No Ordinary Family’s Michael Chiklis was one of the first to arrive with his daughter to support the great cause of Camp Ronald McDonald which brings happiness to sick kids.

The Biggest Loser host Alison Sweeney was with her son Ben (in a Transformer’s costume) and daughter Megan (as a butterfly). Cheryl Hines also enjoyed the event with her daughter Catherine. Both gorgeous moms stopped by the Skechers booth to check out the Shape-Up sneakers and latest line of fitness footwear. That’s why they look so good running after their kids.

Another super-celebrity-mom was Shar Jackson (of Moesha fame) brought her kids. Stunning Shar, who was seen on Celebrity Fit Club: Boot Camp, seems to get younger every time we see her. Also on hand, Constance Marie and daughter Luna, Marissa Jaret Winokur and son Zev, and Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush was there with his darling daughters.

“This is as much fun for the parents as it is for the kids,” Bush said.

Part of the fun was the mini-concert put on by American Idol’s Blake Lewis. Also performing on the Clear Channel Radio’s MY-fm stage was Hannah Montana’s Emily Osment. Among her great tunes is the song “Hero In Me,” very appropriate for the event.

Having a blast signing autographs and meeting their fans were Shake It Up’s cutie-pie Max Ehrich, Rachel Griffiths, Lisa Vidal, Dan Cortese, Samantha Harris, Chelsea Hobbs (Make It or Break It), Robbie Amell (True Jackson), Italia Ricci, Hayley McFarland (Lie To Me), Savannah Jayde (Big Time Rush), and Sterling Beaumont (Lost).

In a big bird costume was Doug Brochu, and his Sonny With A Chance costar Tiffany Thornton, plus Nathan Kress (iCarly), Madison Beaty (No Ordinary Family), Taylor Spreitler (Melissa and Joey), and Vincent Martella from Phineas and Ferb, the terrific animated series about kids on an adventure to create a perfect day.

Many more young celebrities were there, and everyone enjoyed all the carnival activities, food, rides, games and great prizes. The most popular costumes at the event seemed to be Iron Man and Spiderman, and, of course there were little princesses everywhere.

Happy Halloween.
