Joyce’s Toluca Lake Preschool and Kindergarten Halloween Festival
By Patty Schaller
Superheroes, princesses, ghouls, and monsters descended on Joyce’s Toluca Lake Preschool and Kindergarten early on a Friday night for the school’s annual Halloween Festival. Over 100 families participated in games, a haunted laboratory, and a black-lite gallery of the children’s drawings. They enjoyed dinners of hot dogs, pulled pork, salads, and bake sale items as well as participating in crafts, all under the watchful eyes of the school’s staff and parents.
According to Linda McManus, owner of the school along with Rocky Karbel, Joyce’s is “a little school with tremendous parent support and awesome children.” Ms. Linda and Ms. Rocky bought the school in 2004, and use “Learning in the Key of Life” as its overall philosophy.
Using PARENT POWER, PAJ (PARENTS AT JOYCE’S) started planning the event in early October with a goal of raising $2,000 to $3,000 for enrichment for the children. First on the “wish list” was to bring in a science program. The parents are happy to announce that their efforts helped double the amount of their original goal.
