“Occupy Whatever” Mob Puts Us Deeper in Debt

As we’ve learned recently from Governor Brown,Californiahas a budget deficit of $16 billion, almost double of what he claimed it was in January.Californiais going down the hole almost as fast as the city ofLos Angeles. And LA has been deep in the hole for a long time.

And now it turns out that the Occupy Whatever mob costLos Angelescity taxpayers nearly $5 million, with the bulk of the money spent on policing the protest. That’s about $2 million higher than the first estimated report back in February. The new figure reflects police costs and the rehabilitation ofCityHallParkand several monuments damaged by the protesters who set up camp at City Hall from early last October to late November.

LA got off easy though when you consider thatNew York Citywas hit with a $17 million cost in police overtime to handle the mob protests inZuccottiPark. All of which goes to prove that the so-called 99 percenters are nothing but 100 percent self-indulgent, far-left terrorists that are costing the taxpayers millions.

They’re also liars, who claim to represent most Americans when in fact most Americans wouldn’t come within a forty mile radius of this filthy mob. The only thing these jerks really accomplish is tacking on additional financial costs to this money-strapped city and other cities across theUnited Stateswith their phony “99 percent” baloney.Los Angeleshad a $238-million budget deficit to begin with, according to City Councilman Mitchell Englander. So now tack on an additional $5 mil.

And yet the Occupy Whatevers were welcomed with open arms by Mayor Tony V and city lawmakers when they first began their demonstration last September. The council passed a resolution in support of the group’s “peaceful and vibrant exercise in First Amendment Rights” and then-Council President Eric Garcetti told protesters: “Stay as long as you need, we’re here to support you.” Great.

Beyond the costs however, the basic premise of this movement is completely phony. Thomas Sowell had it right in his recent column when he said, “How did the ‘Occupy’ movement acquire such immunity from the laws that the rest of us are expected to obey? Simply by shouting politically correct slogans and calling themselves representatives of the 99 percent against the 1 percent.”

Sowell goes on to ask, “Just when did the 99 percent elect them as their representatives? If in fact 99 percent of the people in the country were like these ‘Occupy’ mobs, we would not have a country. We would have anarchy.  Democracy does not mean mob rule. It means majority rule. If the ‘Occupy’ movement, or any other mob, actually represents a majority, then they already have the votes to accomplish legally whatever they are trying to accomplish by illegal means.” Exactly right!

If anything, it is the protesters that are the 1 percent; the rest of us who obey the laws, respect the rights of others, and have a modicum of morality and common sense are the true 99 percent. In actuality, the Occupy Whatever people are more than likely a whole lot less than even 1 percent of us. Most of us have other things to do besides camp in the street for a couple of months without bathing, defecate in the open, get high, deface public property and private stores, and scream into news cameras.

The Occupiers have caused more problems recently inChicagoresulting in dozens of arrests and one police officer getting stabbed. The group which was once just a bunch of ragtag leftist troublemakers is now well organized by far-left money men and union groups and they intend to cause as much havoc as they can during the presidential conventions this summer.

But remember it was the liberal Democrats who supported and encouraged them in the beginning. A few quotes of note: On October 11, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, chair of the Democratic National Committee, announced, “We applaud their activism.”

House Democratic Minority Leader Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi said, “God bless them for their spontaneity … it’s going to be effective.” Chiming in on October 18, President Obama told ABC News, “We are on their side.” And our President told Occupy Wall Street demonstrators inNew Hampshire, “You are the reason I ran for office.”

But it isn’t only Democrats who have supported the Occupy mob, the Communist Party USA declared in October: “An epic battle is underway for the direction of our country. The Occupy movement is not alone … We stand with the courageous young people who have sparked this movement and join with the occupiers who are putting themselves on the line … The time has come to put people before profits.”

And here is another endorsement verbatim from another upstanding group: “The Socialist Party USA supports the mobilizations to occupyWall St.inNew Yorkand various cities across theUSand encourages our locals to take part in these actions.” Indeed, both groups have been active participants in the demonstrations.

It’s nice to see the socialists, communists, and Democratic Party all fighting for a common goal – anarchy and class warfare. Kind of makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
