Summer Horse Camp at the Traditional Equitation School
The Traditional Equitation School, located at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center, is known for its Summer Horse Camps that teach children ages 6-12 about the wonderful world of horses. Camp begins at 9 a.m. and includes a full day of horsemanship in a fun-filled, safe environment. Children are supervised by trained staff and learn mounted and unmounted horsemanship skills from horses suitable for the young rider. TES’s Kids Horse Camp is designed for all levels of riders, from children on their first experience with a horse to a skilled junior rider who shows hunt seat, dressage or western.
Campers are grouped together based on experience and age, and group size is limited to ensure maximum safety and attention to campers. Each day is packed with crafts, games and activities that teach children about a range of topics including breed and color identification, understanding the different types of riding equipment, and basic first aid for the horse. This summer’s curriculum includes demonstrations from horse industry professionals including a large animal veterinarian and blacksmith. On the final day of each week of camp, parents are invited to attend “Friday Fun Shows” in which children demonstrate what they have learned over the course of the week. Kids Horse Camp meets Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and many camp sessions are offered. Extended care is available for busy parents.
