Thankful for People, Music, the Fun in Life, and Helping Others
Let’s all be thankful for the things that make us smile. So many of them — good people, music, and the fun times that get us through the rough times — were part of a recent celebration.
To celebrate the AMA last weekend, music filled the air at the GBK Musical Lifestyle Lounge with invited nominees and presenters of the American Music Awards. The celebrities gathered at the Andaz Hotel on the Sunset Strip for the fun affair hosted by Gavin Keilly, founder of GBK special events company. Gavin always embraces a worthy cause to share the spotlight. This time he is supporting those affected by super-storm Sandy, giving 100% of the event proceeds to the American Red Cross for their disaster relief efforts. Keilly says, “It’s thanks to our wonderful participating sponsors and the generous celebrity guests.”
Also, to lift the spirits of those still recovering from the storm, the charity A Rose of Thanks created a special greeting card for celebrity guests to personalize. The cards will be sent to the devastated coastal areas, with heartfelt messages from stars such as Grammy-nominated Sheila E., R&B singer Johnny Gill, and Zendaya Coleman, from Disney’s dance series Shake it Up. All learned about the recovery efforts, and Jessica Sutta (Pussycat Dolls) appreciated the little first aid kit handed out by the Red Cross, “because you never know.”
Singing up a storm were Jamar Rogers and Chris Mann with a special impromptu performance by the hot finalists from season two of NBC’s The Voice. Also music to my ears, the GBK event presented an eclectic mix of musicians entertaining throughout the day. The band Pullman Standard, Branches, Angelyna Martinez, Deqn Sue, Stazz, Standley, J-Dub, Mike Burke, and 10-year-old DJ BabyChino were featured.
The dynamo Pussycat Dolls founder/choreographer Robin Antin was rocking the event, along with Shaunie O’Neil (Basketball Wives), and Celebrity Apprentice competitor Aubrey O’Day. They went wild over the genuine Louisiana Alligator and Cowhide Dog Collars and jewelry from Barbara Conner Jewelry dba Swamp Dogs of LA. Since I was featured in the movie thriller Alligator a few decades ago, the snappy reptile twist to unique jewelry certainly caught my eye.
A highlight for the ladies, and some “metro” guys, was indulging in a CindiNails mini-manicure session. The Millionaire Matchmaker Patti Stanger and exotic model Karrueche Tran loved the healthy and strong nail care products. Another great beauty aid was Sure Thik, amazing hair thickening products to help thinning hair for men and women. For beautiful eyes, RevitaLash cosmetics is always a celebrity favorite. Plus, Oxis International Inc. had their Reverge/Prograce skin care treatments that delighted the gal-group Blush.
A couple of the Backstreet Boys, Brian Littrell and Howie Dorough were seen having lots of fun with all the great sponsors at the event. Also handing out were BooBoo Stewart and Toni Trucks from the Twilight Saga movies. They all went “wow” over the colorful Fly Watches from the trend-setting Flyclothing president Jonathan Hedden. Glee’s cheerleader Becca Tobin thought the iiJin invisible wedge footwear line were super-trendy and helped create shapely legs.
Lovely recording artist Kimberly Cole enjoyed the variety of unique handcrafted goodies from the popular TheArtisanGroup.org. Top model Eva Marcille Pigford was impressed by the stylish handcrafted Italian leather bags from Moni Moni designed by Cinzia Moniaci. There was everything from the GCBX & Nextrim weight loss supplement to the Royal Red Velvet Cupcakes. And jewelry styles for any occasion came from Michelle Roy and her Social Butterflies LA accessories line that features skulls in the designs. It’s the hottest trend and fun to wear.
