The Toluca Lake Fine Arts Festival Features Numerous Artists Presenting Their Original Works
The Toluca Lake Fine Arts Festival is set for Saturday and Sunday, April 26-27, 10a—5p. Our second show at this location. Featuring numerous artists presenting their original work in all mediums of two and three dimensional fine art, including paintings in acrylic, oils and watercolors, photography, etchings, sculpture in clay, glass, metal, stone, and wood. Each artist will be present to meet with the public and discuss their work. All work is available for purchase.
Our featured artist is Carolyn Johnson. Carolyn Johnson’s art has been defined by Steve McKibben of McKibben Fine Art Studios in Laguna Beach, CA as “Contemporary Expressionism.” He goes on to say “Johnson’s Original compositions are Mixed Media on Canvas utilizing various Inks & Metallics in an abstract free-flow of color values and harmony creating a balance with nature & fantasy.”
“I love to spend hours and days with my art and do much of the creating ‘in the moment,’” says Carolyn. The fine line detail is all free hand drawing with design elements and interacting lines – all working together to create a movement, a flow.
The art technique is a mixed media of layered materials using imagery, textures, metallic, and non-metallic inks. The free hand design of the inks is very detailed and spontaneous. Each piece is finished with textures mirroring the hand-drawn designs. The canvases are very dimensional, with color variations and tactile qualities. This technique has been called “unique and a style never before seen.”
The Toluca Lake Fine Arts Festival at Burbank Media District is located on Riverside Drive, between North Pass Avenue and West Alameda Avenue. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, admission is free.
