Topanga Vintage Market Celebrates 1st Birthday, Already Feels Ancient
Flea markets are as old as Methuselah, but Topanga Vintage Market is the newest incarnation here in L.A. and it has a modern twist; it’s at the mall!
Single mothers Lori Rotblatt and Patrice Curedale decided to start their own market in 2011. “After shopping and selling at L.A.’s far flung markets, we could see that there was a need for a good flea right here in the San Fernando Valley, so we decided to create one,” Rotblatt says.
“The location was key, and when we got the nod from Westfield Promenade we knew it would work. Plenty of parking, restaurants, and a great corner at Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Oxnard, with lots of mature trees. It was great!” Curedale says.
TVM hosts over 160 vendors on the fourth Sunday of each month, including many Rose Bowl favorites, and many local antique dealers as well. “We went to all our favorite places and invited the dealers personally to create the ambience we wanted.”
And as Joey Wahl, TVM vendor and owner of Joseph Wahl Antiques says, “It already feels like a well worn antique that has been there for years.”
Topanga Vintage Market is always the fourth Sunday of the month, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., located at 6100 Topanga Canyon Blvd. in Woodland Hills.
Parking is free, admission is only $2, and kids under 12 are free. No pets please. For info, visit topangavintagemarket.com or call (310) 422-1844.
