Where There’s Smoke –There’s Fire!

Janie Steele & Pacific Electric.

Over the last several months I have been covering appearances and performances of Janie Steele & Pacific Electric for The Tolucan Times. Steele’s first appearance at the long-established restaurant The Smokehouse in Burbank took place on Saturday evening,  Sept. 15, in their lounge area, and Janie and her group were warmly welcomed by the  patrons and guests.

Janie Steele is a multi-talented adorable individual, who not only has been gifted with musical and voice talents, but is also an accomplished actress. She has appeared on shows such as Everybody Loves Raymond and Frasier, among others. This night, along with the excellent Pacific Electric Band, she made a smashing appearance before the enthusiastic crowd.

Janie loves all eras of music and says “oldies” are so much fun to sing. Among her favorites are “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’,” Nancy Sinatra’s big hit, “Sweet Nothin’s” by Brenda Lee, and anything by Patsy Cline. The audience thoroughly enjoyed this trip through memory lane!

Along with her talented musical group, they even did Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” and several of The Beatles’ numbers. Pacific Electric includes Mark Marino with his magic guitar-playing as well as his excellent vocal talents; Kurt Fries on keyboard and singing; and drumming by Jim Salisbury. Janie and the band presented many surprising numbers and it wasn’t long before the dancing began!

Everyone in earshot got caught up in the incredible musical evening presented by Janie Steele and the members of this incredibly talented group. When midnight came around, the management had to call it a night — and what a night!
