Blue’s Beat

The Dodgers (20-19) are struggling, having lost three of four games to National League West-leading San Francisco (24-14) this past weekend at Chavez Ravine.

Clayton Kershaw issued a two-run, go-ahead homer to Brandon Hicks in the seventh inning, and Kenley Jansen surrendered three runs in the 10th as the Blue Crew fell, 7-4, on Sunday.

Hanley Ramirez (two hits) rocked a two-run, game-tying blast in the ninth, Adrian Gonzalez added a run-scoring hit in the sixth, and Andre Ethier had a single with two doubles.

Dee Gordon (two hits) pushed the Dodgers to a 6-2 win on Saturday, stole three bases, scored two runs and drove in two.

Gordon’s double in the seventh made it 3-2, Matt Kemp (two hits with a run) clubbed a solo bomb in the eighth, and Yasiel Puig (two hits) had a run batted in with a run.

Madison Bumgarner (4-3) twirled a four-hitter in the Giants’ 3-1 triumph on Friday, struck out eight with one walk over eight innings, while one-time UCLA star Brandon Crawford (two hits) walloped a two-run shot in the fifth.

San Francisco scored two runs in the 10th inning off J.P. Howell and Jamey Wright on Thursday for a 3-1 victory.

The Dodgers took a 1-0 lead in the fifth on Drew Butera’s sacrifice fly that brought in Kemp (single).

Washington hurler Stephen Strasburg (3-2) went seven and one-third innings, fanned six, walked one, allowed seven hits and two earned runs in a 3-2 home win on Wednesday.

Puig and Gonzalez each had RBI singles in the first inning, while Carl Crawford had two hits with a run scored.

Kershaw (2-0) whiffed nine with no walks, gave up nine hits, no runs in seven frames of an 8-3 drilling of the Nationals on Tuesday.

Ramirez (three hits, two RBIs and a run), Crawford (three hits with a run) and Gordon (two hits and two runs) were the catalysts.

Zack Greinke (5-1) had a rough outing in a 4-0 setback to Washington on Monday as he allowed a two-run blast to Anthony Rendon in the first inning and exited after three frames.
