CKS:  How did you become involved in this production?
MD:  I was offered to do the show in India. The director had seen the play and thought I?would be perfect for the role. He gave me the script to read, and John Ventimiglia and I read it together. By the end of the reading, I was taken by it. Timothy Haskell, the director, and I had been talking about working on a play together and were looking for the right one. I let Tim read it and we decided to go for it.
CKS:  How long have you been in the United States?
MD:  I came here five years ago through an invitation from a director to be the bride in Blood Wedding in New York. Since then I have been going between Israel and New York.
CKS:  How long were you on The Sopranos?
JV:  For its entirety.
CKS:  Where are you from?
JV:  I was born in Queens, but my parents both emigrated from Sicily.
CKS:  Do you find the role you are playing in Stitches challenging?
JV:  It is challenging. In one way I have a hard time defining it when I am in the middle of it. I would say it is hard work. It isn’t necessarily more challenging than any other play only because Anthony Nielson wrote it very well and it’s very honest. It takes a while to figure out what it’s about; what does that moment mean? There’s a lot of discovery involved in the character. There are things in the play that are hard to imagine someone going through.

“Stitching” is playing at The Lillian Theater, 1076 Lillian Way, in Hollywood. Tickets are available by calling (323) 962-7782 and online at www.StitchingThePlay.com.
