Janie Steele & Pacific Electric Band Are Eclectic at St. Charles Festival
Janie Steele & Pacific Electric entertained the crowd at last weekend’s St. Charles Festival in North Hollywood by playing an eclectic range of music. The energetic crowd enjoyed the band’s vast list of songs drawing from Classic Rock, Swing, Tango, Easy Listening, and Country Western — something for everyone in the rollicking two hour set.
The band did its best to accommodate numerous requests of covers of hits from many decades.
Vocalist Janie Steele is a bit of Brenda Lee, a touch of Patsy Cline, and a measure of Shania Twain with her bright, bubbly personality and fun vocal styling. Janie is also an actress with credits including Frasier, Everybody Loves Raymond plus commercials and the musical theater.
She is backed by talented musicians who also do vocal leads, adding even more diversity for this group which is now in its second decade.
Mark Marino (guitar, keyboards, vocals) and Kurt Fries (keyboards, key bass, vocals) add spark to a number of tunes. I especially like the songs where all the performers share in the singing.
The group is well traveled including the casino circuit in California and Nevada. Janie Steele & Pacific Electric has played the Cowboy Palace, Route 66, weddings, private parties, festivals, and more including numerous charity functions throughout greater Los Angeles. They have a number of upcoming shows in the greater Toluca Lake Area.
