Now That She’s Gone was nominated for a 2009 Pulitzer Prize in Drama. That in itself is pretty impressive. But the impressions go on. The story explores Ellen Snortland’s often hilarious, irreverent and sometimes torturous relationship with her Norwegian-American mother. The production is equal mix Lily Tomlin/ Garrison Keillor /Eve Ensler. It can be described as passionate, poignant, funny and even compassionate in all the right places.

A memoir piece laced with women’s history as a backdrop, Snortland lends her considerable story telling skills and interesting life journey to bring Eleanor Roosevelt, sex, drugs, lutefisk, life lessons and celebrities all together in an effective mix that is crowd pleasing and memorable.

It is a banquet of familiar life moments we can all relate to and moments that are uniquely ‘snorty’ Snortland as the actress engages the audience with her fun and flavored delivery spiced with regional accents.

The play and performance has received rave reviews and standing ovations in California, New York, and Washington, D.C., and deservedly so.
