Prince and Princess, and Frog, Oh My!
By Bonnie Priever
Theatre West/Storybook Theatre’s The Princess and the Frog is a must-see for every little boy and girl in Los Angeles seeking a chance to be a prince/princess for a day!
With such cheerful, lovable characters, colorful scenery, props and costumes, kids of all ages are in for a royal treat with plenty of adventure, laughs, song and interactive fun. Some lucky audience members even get invited up on stage to partake in a “royal banquet” with cast members Paul Denniston (Prince, Frog), Anthony Gruposso (King), and Jenn Wiles (Princess). There’s never a dull moment, as the ultra personable, vivacious narrator/magical fairy Hyacinth (Mary Garripoli) engages the young audience, drawing them in with her spells and hexes (i.e. turning the prince into a frog).
No fairytale is complete without the requisite fairy, princess, prince, frog, king, magical forest and, of course, ‘happily ever after.‘ Princess and the Frog has it all, including adorable mini frog puppets singing in a wishing well! While all in good fun, and in true Storybook Theatre style, there is a moral message to be learned and sung along: “There’s nothing more important than doing good, doing all the things you should… Charity begins at home but don’t stay home alone!” For a family day of fun, fantasy and frolic, The Princess and the Frog is the perfect choice. Birthday parties and school field trips are cheerfully accommodated.
“The Princess and the Frog“ plays at Theatre West (3333 Cahuenga Blvd. West, Hollywood, CA 90068) Saturdays at 1pm through February 27, 2010. For more information, call (818) 761-2203.
