The Sherry Theater Presents The Boneyard and Dead Pussy

“The Boneyard” starring, from l, Danielle Scheid and Augusto Aguilera now playing at The Sherry Theater.

The Sherry Theater presents two original one act plays by Tim McNeil, The Boneyard and Dead Pussy.

In The Boneyard, set in a not-too-distantLos Angeles future, two tortured lovers (Danielle Scheid and Augusto Aguilera) have come to a graveyard to unearth the man’s father and wind up discovering more than they bargained for about faith and each other.

The story begins on a dark, foggy night where the tombstone-filled set and incessant crickets beautifully portray the depth of its mood. Aguilera provides a deeply truthful performance both physically and emotionally as he literally digs up the grave on stage.

While both stories revolve around death and have a heavy note of existentialism, they could not be more different. Dead Pussy appears as a frenetic satire against The Boneyard’s deep sadness.

Dead Pussy revolves around just that. On the eve of her beloved cat Boots’ death, Ruth (Rebecca Servon) is inconsolable. She becomes so desperate to shift focus to her husband’s inability to support the family, that when Boots dies, she spirals into a terrifying world of guilt and blame.

Servon truly comes to life in a drunken stupor of a monologue as she tries to process the reality that is her life. But it is Meghan Cox that steals the show as the sexy yet strong Boots, returned from the heavens to demand answers from her grieving mother.

Directed by Brad Kaz, both The Boneyard and Dead Pussy allow the audience to laugh, grieve, and reflect.
