The newly re-emerged Toluca Lake Players, which started up again last year after a long hiatus, open their second season Friday with an original musical revue called Crazy Love. The show is a series of a couple dozen comic sketches that poke fun at all the different things we love that sometimes might drive us into therapy. This does not just include human relations where love might be out of whack, but also people with “love obsessions” for things not necessarily alive but still nonetheless addictive: things like food, shopping, places, cars, and even our own bodies!

The Toluca Lake Players, under the co-artistic directorship of Pat Allee and Dean Scott Schulman, have been responsible for bringing the previously well-received shows of The Middle Ages, Judy and Patsy on a Blue Day, and It Was a Dark and Stormy Night to Taber Hall on Cahuenga this past year.

Their current offering, Crazy Love, written and directed by Dean Scott Schulman, incorporates some wonderfully recognized tunes from the early 20th century such as: “Toot Toot Toosie,” “Yankee Doodle Dandy,” “Ain’t We Got Fun,” and “After the Ball” etc. all set to new lyrics conveying the theme of therapy and the things we love.

The show is appropriate for all ages and features a cast of ten, some of whom are making their Los Angeles debut here in Crazy Love. Tickets are just $15 for adults, $13 for students and seniors, and $5 for children 12 and under. To have tickets held in your name at the door, please call the box office and leave your name at .

Crazy Love runs July 12-28 on Fridays & Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Taber Hall is located at 4301 Cahuenga Blvd. in Toluca Lake.
