The classic story of Snow White gets the star treatment by the award-winning Nine O’Clock Players as they present the first show of its 2013 and 2014 Season. Directed by Todd Nielsen, Carol Weiss delivers both the music and lyrics, and Bill Brown provides the musical direction of this family musical.

The Tolucan got to sit down with Elin Hampton who plays the venerable Snow White.

How is this Snow White different from other versions?

We have an all-female cast. Snow White does escape to a cottage in the woods, and our audience can expect to see seven dwarves. From our gorgeous costumes to our enchanting set and magical props, I am in awe of the many people behind this show. I was a fan of Todd Neilson’s before, so it’s been a real treat to watch his vision come to life. He’s so inventive.

What was the most challenging aspect of playing the lead?

It’s always challenging playing the straight woman to a cast of eccentric characters. The women in this show are hilarious. It’s challenging not to laugh.

Snow White will preview on Sunday, Oct. 27, at 2 p.m. and will open on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 2 p.m. and run through Sunday, Nov. 24, at the Assistance League Theatre located at 1367 N. St. Andrews Place in Hollywood. Performances are Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. Ticket prices are $12. For tickets, please call (323) 469-1970 or visit nineoclockplayers.com.
