‘One Night Comedy Show’ at El Portal Sun., July 23

I want to talk about NBC4 weathercaster and comedian Fritz Coleman lending his endless generosity and wisdom and humor to help Actors and Others for Animals.

Fritz Coleman’s show proves that “getting older might not be pretty, but it sure is funny!” As a senior myself, I can vouch for that, as my peers get together and laugh at the unexpected tricks that age brings. And Fritz, besides being L.A.’s favorite weatherman, is truly hilarious, charming and entertaining for every age.

The senior connection is so appropriate to Actors and Others. Besides all the other significant work accomplished, helping seniors is dear to my heart. Think about it … there are so many older people whose only companion and comfort is their pet: a source of love in a lonely life. But emergency veterinarian needs can be tragic, both for the senior and the pet. This happy evening will help Actors & Others help them.

Reasonable tickets (for $25 to $50) mean Actors and Others wants this event to be accessible. Mix with our celebrities (and help animals!), as there is a social hour and silent auction at 6pm and the special show at 7pm.

All proceeds will benefit Actors and Others for Animals. Please learn about this amazing and historic organization by going to the website at ActorsAndOthers.com. Know how Doris Day, our mothership, was involved in founding this humane group and how she helped gather so many stars to inspire animal awareness. Learn about actor Earl Holliman, and the extraordinary milestones and amazing board members who include Betty White and Lily Tomlin.

JoAnne Worley, A&O’s extraordinary president, will bring her special fun talents to host this event and it’s a given that it won’t be “Boorrrrrring!”

And we’ll talk…hopefully at the El Portal on the 23rd.

Tickets are available online at ElPortalTheatre.com or call (818) 508-4200.
