In the busy NoHo Arts District of North Hollywood, at the corner of Lankershim Blvd. and Otsego St., The Pizza Press opened on October 13th. Here patrons may “publish” their unique pizza and “editors” take the orders.
This restaurant is part of a growing chain of franchises of The Pizza Press, which is headquartered in Orange. And this location’s new owners, Levon and Hilda Setrakian, were eager to talk about what their eatery has to offer.
Hilda said, “I grew up in Toluca Lake, so it was like coming back home.” And Levon said that so far there has been a lot of foot traffic, when people have been walking in from Lankershim Blvd. Hilda added, “People have ordered pizza to go when they got off the train,” referring to the nearby Metro station.
There is an extensive list of toppings available when patrons order their custom-made pizzas. And according to the menu, gluten-free crust is available for an extra $1 for any pizza.
Each pizza is baked in under four minutes. Kids meals are also available. The Setrakians have also been complimented on the 23 beers on tap they offer at the restaurant. Red and white wine awaits you as well.
Currently, the Setrakians have 15 employees working for them. “We’ve hired all local people based on culinary experience and character, “ Levon said. “In fact, many of our employees are culinary school graduates. We bake cookies each day and pizza dough is prepared on our premises daily as well.”
The Pizza Press is adding locations nationwide, according to the restaurant chain’s website. Levon emphasized that one opened in Pasadena last February at 1655 Colorado Blvd.
The Pizza Press NoHo location is at 5077 Lankershim Blvd. Hours are 11am to 12 midnight daily. Plenty of free parking in the back. Call (818) 308-6353 or visit ThePizzaPress.com.
