The Help Group’s STEM³ Academy is the first school of its kind to provide a robust STEM education to young people with social and learning differences. The school offers a comprehensive and integrated K-12 curriculum focused on the long-term development, strengths and needs of each student – many of whom are bright, have a passion for STEM fields and may benefit from non-traditional learning methods.
STEM³ Academy has created an environment that engages students and emphasizes learning rather than teaching. Students explore and test solutions to real-world problems while practicing collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity – skills necessary to succeed in today’s world.
Partnerships and mentor programs provide real-world interaction and knowledge of industries and career paths. At the heart of the school is an Innovation Lab and Maker Space where students are involved in diverse fields such as robotics, electronics and 3D modeling and printing.
STEM³ Academy was designed to prepare students for meaningful careers in growing fields such as engineering, cyber-security, biomedical, coding, game development, accounting, web design and IT, among others. It grew out of a pilot project by The Help Group to infuse 21st Century Learning Skills and Project-Based Learning into a STEM curriculum. The program was life-changing for many students, who excelled in a school-based project for the first time.
Based on early success, STEM³ Academy opened its high school and middle school in 2015 and expanded to include an elementary school in 2016.
STEM3 Academy is located at 6455 Coldwater Canyon Ave. in Los Angeles. Visit STEM3Academy.org or call (818) 623-6386 for more information.
