Did you ever have one of those moments, where you put down the TV remote and then can’t remember where you placed it?
Well guess what, you’re not alone. Big Button Universe Inc. designs, develops, and distributes specialty consumer electronic accessories that are easy to use and yes, FIND!
The company builds its products with an eye towards low-vision, baby boomer, senior, and memory-impaired customers.
Big Button recently announced the introduction of a much-needed universal TV remote design for the low-vision and mature markets. Their initial product, the BB20 is an easy-to-use, big button universal TV remote.
Industry-wide, most existing universal remotes have numerous keys and small buttons that are quite often misjudged. Big Button Universe’s large button universal remotes have pronounced basic keys that are simple and easy to navigate.
The BB20, like all Big Button Universe remote controls, offers a range of features not found elsewhere. The large-faced keypad allows the user to easily understand which buttons they are pressing.
Each primary key is also imprinted with Braille, to help both blind and low-vision customers with channel selection.
The BB20 features multi-colored keypads, which highlight the most-used buttons on the device. Three infrared sensors (two on the end and one on the bottom of the remote) allow low-vision users to hold the remote straight up and down, much like reading a book. This makes it easier to see the device, without the signal aiming off into the ceiling and frustrating the user.
