BLUE CREW NEWS Dodgers take over first place

It’s taken some time, but the Dodgers (68-55) are in first place in the National League West.

They sit atop the division, a half game ahead of San Francisco (68-56) despite losing two of three games to Cincinnati at The Great American Ballpark this past weekend.

The Blue Crew’s 4-0 win on Sunday saw rookie Julio Urias (4-3) venture six innings, giving up six hits with no walks while striking out six.

Chase Utley (two runs) homered in the first inning and added a run-tallying single in the third.

Corey Seager (two hits) had a run-scoring single in the third and Joc Pederson, who had a hit, contributed a sacrifice fly in the sixth.

The Reds pounded the Dodgers 11-1 on Saturday when Adam Duvall (two runs and two hits) mashed a three-run homer (28th) and added another run batted in.

Rookie Rob Segedin had the only RBI for the Dodgers in the ninth inning.

Cincinnati routed the Dodgers 9-2 on Friday as Joey Votto (two runs) had two hits and drove in four that included a three-run homer (20th) in the first.

Seager singled twice, score a run and tossed in an RBI, while pinch hitter A.J. Ellis drove in the other run.

Philadelphia edged the Dodgers 5-4 on Thursday at Citizens Bank Park despite Justin Turner’s double and homer (23rd) with three RBIs.

The Dodgers sideswiped the Phillies 7-2 on Wednesday and were led by Adrian Gonzalez, who clubbed a three-run homer and a two-run shot.

Turner (single with a homer and two runs) drove in two, Pederson had three hits and Scott Kazmir (10-6) went five frames and gave up eight hits and two runs.

The Dodgers bulldozed the Phillies 15-5 on Tuesday after Utley returned to the City of Brotherly Love for the first time since being traded and lashed a solo homer in the fifth and a grand slam in the seventh.

Howie Kendrick (two runs) had four hits with three RBIs as he drilled a two-run rocket in the fifth and walloped a run-producing triple in the ninth.

Yasmani Grandal (three hits and three runs) collected three RBIs as he hit a two-run shot in the sixth and added a bases-loaded walk in the seventh.
