Dodgers Heating Up

The Dodgers’ 10-game road trip ended with a 7-3 record after winning two of three from Atlanta this past weekend.

Chad Billingsley (10-9) went seven innings and allowed three hits in Sunday’s 5-0 win, and Mark Ellis drove in four runs, including a bloop single to right field in the eighth inning that Jason Heyward lost in the sun, and a three-run double in the ninth.

On Saturday, the Dodgers (67-55) swatted four homers including three consecutive in the 6-2 win over the Braves.

Hanley Ramirez clubbed two and drove in four, and his solo homer in the second erased Martin Prado’s run-scoring double in the first, followed by James Loney’s shot, and Luis Cruz’s blast for a 3-1 cushion.

Matt Kemp walked in the sixth, stole second, and Andre Ethier walked before Ramirez’s rocket made it a five-run bulge that backed Aaron Harang (9-7), who went six and two-third innings, walking five with eight strikeouts.

A two-run lead didn’t last as the Braves rallied for a 4-3 win on Juan Francisco’s single in the 11th on Friday.

Ethier hit a two-run homer in the sixth, and Shane Victorino’s run-scoring double in the seventh gave the Dodgers a 3-1 lead, but the Braves scored two runs in the eighth as Prado and Heyward each had a run batted in.

Joe Blanton (8-11) lasted four and one-third innings and was scorched for three homers in Pittsburgh’s 10-6 win on Thursday.

Ellis, Ramirez and Loney all had two hits, and the trio accounted for four RBIs and four runs scored.

Clayton Kershaw (11-6) turned in another gem on Wednesday as he held the Pirates to six hits, three runs (earned), no walks and eight strikeouts in eight innings as the Dodgers waltzed to a 9-3 decision.

Ethier and Victorino each had three hits, while Ellis and Ramirez added two for the Dodgers, who pounded 15 hits off five Pirate hurlers.

Billingsley worked eight innings and cruised to an 11-0 blitz over the Pirates on Tuesday as he fanned five, walked one and was tagged for five hits.

Cruz (three hits) had three RBIs with a run, and Ramirez (three hits) scored twice with two RBIs for the Dodgers, who led 6-0 after six innings before a five-run outburst in the ninth.

Victorino doubled and homered, had three RBIs with two runs, while Harang worked six innings as the Dodgers edged the Pirates 5-4 on Monday.
