Dodgers in Free Fall

At the current pace, the Dodgers (32-41) will win 71 games, and miss the playoffs for the second consecutive season.

With Frank McCourt and ex-wife Jamie disputing ownership, this has been a rocky ride and an unproductive week for the Dodgers, who snapped a five-game losing streak on Dioner Navarro’s one-out homer in the eighth inning last Sunday for a 1-0 win versus visiting Houston.

The Dodgers saw Wandy Rodriguez twirl a six-inning shutout in a 7-0 victory on Saturday.

Rodriguez (5-3) gave up seven hits including two from Andre Ethier (single and double), while striking out six and walking one.

Jeff Keppinger singled twice and had two runs batted in for the Astros, who broke a scoreless affair with a five-run fifth.

Brett Myers (3-6) tossed a complete-game four-hitter with six strikeouts, one walk and three runs (two earned) for the Astros, 7-3 winners on Friday.

The Dodgers landed the first punch in the first on Matt Kemp’s sacrifice fly, and Ethier lashed a two-run homer in the ninth.

Carlos Lee had three singles with two runs and one RBI for the Astros, and Clint Barmes (two doubles with a run) had two RBIs.

Cincinnati’s Scott Rolen had three hits (two doubles and a single) with three RBIs and two runs, while Fred Lewis added two doubles and two RBIs as the Reds thumped the Dodgers 7-2 on Wednesday.

Chad Billingsley (5-6) continued his downward slide as Cincinnati scored seven runs (earned) and collected nine hits over four innings.

Travis Wood (5-4) surrendered five hits and one run (earned) in six frames as the Reds pushed over four runs in the third after scoring two in the second.

Clayton Kershaw had no decision as the Reds won, 3-2, on Tuesday, and was nicked for one run (earned) over seven innings, while giving up four hits and fanning four with two walks. He left with the score tied at 1-1.

Johnny Cueto (4-2) walked one, struck out five, gave up five hits, one run (unearned) in seven innings for the Reds, who scored solo runs in the eighth and ninth.

Joey Votto’s three-run rocket was part of a four-run seventh as the Reds captured a 6-4 victory on Monday.

James Loney (two singles) had an RBI for the Dodgers, who led 1-0 after one, and 2-1 after five.
