It’s rumored that playwright Agatha Christie said of her play The Mousetrap, premiering in 1952, that it would run maybe a year or so. It’s still running! And you can see this murder mystery for yourself presented by Crown City Theatre in North Hollywood.
Or see it again.
Bill Reilly is the theatre’s artistic director and he spoke about their award-winning production of this beloved play. “I have seen the show a dozen or more times, but every time I walk into one of our sold-out performances, I can’t help but stand and watch again. There’s always something to rediscover,” he says.
This play, of which the board game Clue is based, is about a group of strangers stranded in a boarding house during a snow- storm, one of whom is a murderer. The ending features a famous Agatha Christie switch finish!
You have to keep the secret.
At intermission there is a gentle reminder to share what a great night you had seeing the play. Share that the production is the winner of four StageSceneLA Awards: Outstanding Production, Outstanding Featured Actor, Outstanding Ensemble and Outstanding Director — Sonny Lira. Share that the doors open at 7pm, with seating at 7:30 so you can get your first come, first served favorite seat while enjoying concessions or drinks from the donation bar. “You can take your snacks into the theatre,” Reilly explains. “We want our audience to be comfortable.”
But please don’t share the ending!
