Big River, the multiple Tony Award-winning musical adventures of Huckleberry Finn, is now playing weekends at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center. The production, by the Actors’ Repertory Theatre of Simi Valley, is suitable for all-ages and features music and lyrics by Roger Miller, book by William Hauptmann and is directed by Taylor Kasch.

The show takes the audience on a rollicking ride down the mighty Mississippi along with the irrepressible Tom Sawyer and his gang, the King and Duke (a couple of crafty con artists) and a cast of colorful characters he meets on his journey to free his friend Jim from the bonds of slavery.

“Big River” performs Friday and Saturday nights at 8pm and at 2:15pm on Sundays through Sunday, July 15. Tickets are available at or make reservations through the Cultural Arts Center box office at (805) 583-7900. Producers acknowledge there is some scattered use of the “n” word throughout the dialogue that is indicative of the time period and location, and apologize for the offending language.
