The opening night gala of Cinderella, A Modern Musical Extravaganza at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood, presented by generous sponsor DFS North America, benefited L.A.‘s BEST After School Enrichment Program. This production of Cinderella was a traditional London panto, where this fairytale was turned into a contemporary performance with songs from the current Billboard charts, male actors playing the traditionally female-held roles of the evil step-sisters and, of course, audience participation, which dazzled adults and children alike.

The show was produced by Lythgoe Family Productions and featured a star-studded cast including Leave it to Beaver’s Jerry Mathers, Harry Potter’s Freddie Stroma and Broadway star Jennifer Leigh Warren. Several celebrities also turned out for the evening to show their support including Neil Patrick Harris, David Burtka, Vinnie Jones, Mel B., and Kara DioGuardi. After the show, all attendees enjoyed a magical fantasy dessert buffet and had the chance to meet and greet with their favorite cast members, including everyone’s favorite, “Blitzen,” the miniature white pony played by Little Man.
