Utilizing drama, comedy, song and spoken word, Sybil Walker has penned, and performs, a story of three unique, fascinating women as they navigate through life, love and the secrets within. In a solo performance, Walker graces through several other colorful characters, from the sophisticated to the street-wise to the simple, that touch the main characters’ world. Her versatility and balance of all the show’s elements creates some memorable moments in the Ovation and NAACP nominated “Beneath Rippling Water.”
Under the direction of Gregg T. Daniel, Walker provides a high-energy performance on a striking stage featuring an elegant and brightly colored décor. The production runs through May 17 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 3pm. (No shows on Mother’s Day weekend.)
“Beneath Rippling Water” is the second segment of Fremont Theatre’s trilogy of “Stripped Bare,” a collection of solo shows. The final show in the series will be “A Woman if Independent Means,” performed as a popular annual Mother’s Day tribute and tradition by Lissa Layng. This classic and powerful show about Bess Steed Garner, who demonstrated fierce courage and an independent spirit as an emerging American woman in the 20th century, runs May 8-10, Friday and Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 3pm. There will be a Mother’s Day Tea at 2pm on May 10.

“Beneath Rippling Water” and “A Woman if Independent Means” shows at the Fremont Centre Theatre (1000 Fremont Centre, South Pasadena). For both shows, tickets are $25 and $20 for students and seniors. For reservations, call (866) 811-4111, or visit  www.fremontcentretheatre.com.
