Friday Night Quickies is an adventure into the collaborative theatre effort. Seven writers and 23 actors share one director who weaves seven short plays into one set in a bar. The show is in one act and runs about 90 minutes. By the way, this is the second edition of the Quickies Series, as the previous effort was so well received it was decided to come back with some fresh material. Ashley Taylor produces this go around.
Everyone may not know your name but we know what people talk about: sports, men, women, life.
Highlights include Kelly Stables role as a conservative Mormon-like young woman yet on the prowl for an unusual character as portrayed by Kirk Baily in Lisa Woodward’s “A Decent Tip.” Elizabeth Drier and Kim Fitzgerald develop some nice chemistry and great timing as two women in a bar comparing notes on the action in “Sophisticated Barflies.”
The dialog delivered by Juan Pope and Devika Parikh who delved into the spiritual realm in “How I Met Your Father” penned by Kerry Bailey seemed spot on. Paul Pape, Bryan Rasmussen and Marcelo Tubert brought great energy to David Wally’s sports themed “I’ll Drink to That.”
