Burn is a fiery cleansing of the soul. A woman prepares to leap the flames of life to “burn” away past demons. Burn is a fiery cleansing of the soul.
Writer/performer Ingez Rameau has devoted years crafting this haunting, twisted and extraordinary journey of survival and discovery. Step by step, she explores her path from post-World War II Europe, life discovery, dealing with her mother, a long in the works journey to America as well as relationships and encounters with men that prove to be a confusing and destructive element since early childhood.
Under the calculating and sometimes brilliant direction of Michael Phillip Edwards, the story shares its wisdom with a strong dose of brutal honesty that continually moves the story forward with constant awakening reality. A mesmerizing tale, at points nearly hypnotic, Rameau delivers a strong, descriptive script from her soul that is often fiery, fierce and illuminating.
Adding smoke to the fire, the 90 minute one-woman/one-act production is backed by the superbly crafted original music and sound design of Armando Compean and James Varley.
Burn lingers with an impression left like other burn marks that one experiences in life, and yet makes a huge leap of faith and discovery. There is a real story behind it and the memories linger on. The life lessons expressed will light your fire. This one gets a big bravo!
