Elate 2010- 2011 Presents: Robert E. Sherwood’s Classic Thriller The Petrified Forest


The Petrified Forest is Pulitizer Prize winning author Robert E. Sherwood’s 1935 Broadway hit about desperation, disillusion and dreams.

Set in an out of the way roadside cafe and gas station during the depression, the story revolves around young dreamer Gabby Maple and Alan Squier, a disillusioned intellectual who’s lost hope and just about everything else. Their lives change when Duke Mantee and his criminal gang arrive and take over, holding everyone at the cafe prisoner. It was later made as a film with Bette Davis and Humphrey Bogart. The show will run at the Lincoln Stegman Theater, 6020 Radford (at Oxnard) in North Hollywood November 12-14, 19-21. The show will begin at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays.
