This satirical show is certifiably insane! Admittedly, I am not a wizard on political world happenings. I probably missed some of the pertinent true to life “barbs,” as the pace was madcap … but the overall zany references and depictions of today’s political news, are covered here with batty brilliance! Dealing with the Olympics, NSA spying, Edward Snowden, Obama and Michelle, KGB agents, Joe Biden, CIA, Vladimir Putin, NSA nerds, and even more colorful characters … the performances were wildly whacky! Billed as a political comedy with songs, cleverly written by Nicholas Zill … this is a “laugh-a-minute” political spoof. The 12 humorous musical parodies, written by a variety of well known writers, have been arranged and pre-recorded by “Rock ‘N’ Ridicule Band,” with snappy choreography by Kara Karstedt. A zany story, loosely based on true current events, this show is filled with spy agency intrigue, romantic complications, the sensual effects of a lustful pheromone spray, and the shady ploys that lurk under the surface of politics. Matthew Harris is good fun as President Obama, and as Michelle, Arielle Widemon Siler is spunky. Dan Amerman is excellent as Edward Snowden, and Beth Triffon is hot stuff as a Columbian prostitute. In hilarious double roles as the goofy Joe Biden, and the cartoon-like Russian President Vladimir Putin … Christopher Robert Smith was fantastically flawless! The remaining trio of actors, each capably handling zany multi roles, are Guillermo Lozano, Max Lawrence, and Natascha Corrigan. Behind the scenes kudos to Traci LaDue for her flairful costume design, and Judi Lewin for her whacky hair/wig and makeup design. Probably my favorite scene of all … shows Obama and Putin in Russia … tangled up in an arm-wrestling contest … The prize for the winner being Edward Snowden! I’m telling you, folks … this show is a non-stop crackup from start to finish! The audience was falling apart with laughter! Need a good hearty laugh-fest? This is the one to catch! Running Friday & Saturday nights, and Sunday matinees through March 30 at Acme Comedy Hollywood located at 135 N. La Brea in Hollywood.
