In today’s world, we hear so many stories about teens in trouble, families torn apart through drug abuse, and more. It was so refreshing for me to have the opportunity to meet an incredible talented young man of only eighteen (going on twenty-five!). His name is Drake Kemper, and at his young age, he has already lost four family friends to cancer, all under the age of twenty. He now is very involved with a wonderful charity group and he has once again been asked to emcee for this year’s event. It’s called “Kids 4 Kids” 4th Annual 5K Run/walk event which benefits The Children’s Cancer Research Fund (CCRF). This takes place at our new location, LA LIVE (Staples Center) on Sunday, April 25, 2010.
Drake has a heart of gold, and has given lots of time and energy in helping to make this an outstanding event. They even have a free chartered bus available leaving Toluca Lake at 8:00 a.m. on the 25th and returning around 2:00 p.m., so he’s asking local neighbors and friends to join and take part in this special day. Lots of celebrities and special guests will be there, such as Emma Roberts, actress, sports figure from the Los Angeles Lakers, Jordan Farmar, Los Angeles Kings’ Luc Robitaille, and more.
Last year over 2,200 people joined in the run/walk, and in four years raised over $1,000,000! Please RSVP to Drake at: firstname.lastname@example.org no later than April 20th, 2010. The cost is only $10.00 for those under 18, and $25.00 for over 18. For more information and program details, go to www.ccrf-kids.org. Brochures also are available at many of our local Toluca Lake businesses. Or call the CCRF at 310-207-5330. Hope to see you there!
