What do Sammy Davis, Jr., Bob Hope, Eleanor Powell, Carol Channing, Bobby Darin, George Burns, Carol Burnett, Jerry Stiller and Diane Ladd all have in common? They all performed with Maybin Hewes! “Still Struttin’” takes us back to the golden age of television—when we all loved to be entertained.
Maybin Hewes was born on Bourbon Street but grew up in New York City’s nightlife. Broadway, television and nightclubs were Maybin’s domain.
Maybin delivers the great standards along with her piano accompanist Ron Rose and drummer Billy Paul. “I’ve Got Rhythm,” “I Love a Piano,” “New Orleans” and “Times Like These” are just some of the memorable tunes she sings and dances. She also shares stories about her stand-up comic husband Don Sherman and daughter Amy Sherman-Palladino, the creator of Gilmore Girls. Get ready for a real high-energy show. Maybin Hewes may be 78 but she still struts her stuff; tap shoes, high kicks and all!
44th Street Productions presents Maybin Hewes in “Still Struttin’” at the Crown City Theatre (11031 Camarillo St., North Hollywood, CA 91602).
