Ana Guigui stars as an attractive young woman who seeks that one, perfect guy to make her life complete. Who will it be? She analyzes her choices. How should she pick one, and what qualification should they have? Taking the advice of a friend, she acquires a God Box. It becomes the repository for her wishes, hopes and dreams, and more. What emerges is not what she would initially expect but actually still a satisfying conclusion.
The music is the key ingredient that takes “God Box” up another level from other romance-themed pieces. Actor-musician-composer-singer-writer Ana Guigui has the musical chops having been nominated for an L.A. Music Award, and a Grammy. She has a wide vocal range, and is an accomplished keyboardist as well. Luckily, the audience experiences both. In this show, the musical selections offer a nice variety of original and familiar songs, which adds to the flow. The music enhances the story, scripted by Guigui, as very descriptive, sometimes with a poetic touch, and with an added appeal to all the senses.
God Box” is directed by Robert Lyon Barker, and is essentially a concert mixed in with a solo show. What a mix it is as it’s very easy to get caught up in this enjoyable and unique piece. It’s well worth your time to see it.
