Emmy-winning, husband and wife writing and acting team Renee Taylor and Joe Bologna top the list of awardees at Women In Theatre’s 7th annual Red Carpet Awards. The luncheon, entertainment and awards program starts at noon Saturday, October 23 at The Castaway in Burbank.
Well known for their extensive entertainment industry accomplishments including live theatre, the couple has been selected as this year’s Honorary Advisor Award recipient. The twosome will be onstage at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood October 14-24 in “Sort of a Love Story” www.elportaltheatre.com. Good friend and fellow entertainer, Lainie Kazan, a 2009 Red Carpet Awardee will present their award.
Theatre West, the oldest continually running theatre in Los Angeles, has been tapped as WIT’s Presidential Awardee. Other organizations sharing the spotlight as awardees include: Marlow Wyatt / The Girl Blue Project, The Gallery Theatre, What A Pair!, and The Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Project.
The individual awardees being honored are Chris DeCarlo, Joanne Gordon, Jim Maurer, Kim O’Rourke, Phillip Sokoloff, Caprice Spencer Rothe, Ken Takemoto, and Jennie Webb.
The Red Carpet is held annually in October to coincide with National Arts and Humanities Month. Award recipients are selected for their extensive support and involvement in the live theatrical arts via a nomination process that is open to the community.
Additional award presenters include a number of leaders in the theatrical arts and entertainment industry including: Florence LaRue, Melissa Manchester, Marvin Acuna, Cate Caplin, Carol Kiernan Convey, and Velina Hasu Houston. Pamela Clay, Jeff Lass, Dennis Ostroski and Shayne Stolz will star in the entertainment segment.
