Golden State Gymnastics
Golden State Gymnastics will be celebrating National Gymnastics Day on September 12, 2008 with an open house event from 1:00-3:00pm. The event is FREE and open to the public with activities for children of all ages, including games, gymnastics play, structured open gym time, a free lunch, and fun!
National Gymnastics Day is an annual event celebrated by USA Gymnastics and it’s member clubs all over the country. It’s designed to showcase the sport of gymnastics and to encourage and promote physical fitness among our nation’s youth.
Golden State Gymnastics is a non-profit gymnastics program that has been serving the Burbank community and surrounding areas since 1973. Golden State offers recreational classes for boys and girls of all ages and abilities, including preschool, progressive levels, boys classes and tumbling. Golden State Gymnastics is home to Burbank’s only Junior Olympic Women’s Gymnastics team and Southern California’s 2008 USAIGC State Champions.
The City of Burbank Creative Arts Center presents “Inseparable Wings,” an exhibition featuring seven of Los Angeles’ most prominent women artists: Carole Gillin, Sylvia Hamilton Goulden, Susan ‘Suki’ Kuss and Ellen Lane. The group of four women artists is celebrating their tenth year exhibiting together. The exhibit will also include guest artists Lee Goldberg, Andrea Raft and Mara Thompson.
The focus of the show is visual communication, combining wall work with assemblage and written thoughts. A group project explores the nuanced techniques of each artist, enhancing their individual voices yet working as a combined form of expression.
Their moving visual explorations of the Mother/Daughter dynamic have received high critical acclaim. Their exhibit this past January at the ArtCore Brewery Annex, “Voices,” examined the unusual aspects of their collaboration through artistic communication.
Opening reception is on Friday, September 4, 7–9pm.
