Mother Earth was the focus of much of the work in Council District 4 this week. To honor Earth Day on Wednesday, Tom planted a tree in Griffith Park with Ron Meyer, CEO of NBC/Universal, and Bruce Saito, Executive Director of the Los Angeles Conservation Corps. NBC/Universal has committed to doing clean-ups and tree-plantings in the park’s Aberdeen Canyon twice each year with LACC.
On Thursday, Tom led more than 600 public school fifth graders up Mt. Hollywood in Griffith Park on his Fourth Annual Hike for Health. Students learned about the great outdoors, munched on donated Clif Bars and got a great workout during the 1.5 mile hike.
On Friday, Tom helped the Friends of the Los Angeles River (FoLAR) kick off its 20th Annual River CleanUp with 800 LAUSD students.
