Auto Club Tips on Creating the Trip of a Lifetime
Whether it’s a honeymoon, anniversary, reunion, birthday or just a long-anticipated vacation, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s AAA Travel Agency is staffed with knowledgeable specialists who work at no charge to ensure their clients will enjoy a worry-free trip they’ll remember all their lives.
“We love helping people to create their dream vacations,” said Kelly Clark, manager of the Auto Club’s Glendale branch at 1233 E. Broadway and the Montrose branch at 2112 Montrose Ave. “For any trip — a cruise, a tropical getaway, an African safari or a European tour — we anticipate all your needs and make sure each detail is covered so that you can enjoy a worry-free vacation.”
AAA, which operates the largest full service leisure travel agency network in North America, is able to provide unmatched access to the travel industry’s leading cruise, tour and lodging companies. Their services are available to everyone, although members are frequently entitled to special services and benefits.
The Auto Club’s AAA Travel Agency offers the following tips for creating an unforgettable vacation:
Discover the best timing. You may want to make an initial visit to a travel agent for assistance with researching the best times of year for various destinations and types of trips, and to ensure that your dream trip is available to you when you want to take it.
Also, taking advantage of special offers — like the Aloha Days Hawaiian vacation promotion, available at the Auto Club through April 30 — can help you save money on your vacation. Aloha Days offers $100 off select hotels, a complimentary car rental for select trips and a $50 activity voucher good toward popular activities like helicopter tours, luaus and dinner cruises.
Use financing/credit card options. The advantage of booking a trip through AAA Travel is that travelers can pay for their trip in installments instead of being required to pay the total cost up front. Also, by using the new AAA Member Rewards Visa from Bank of America, consumers can earn triple points for any vacation booked through AAA.
Don’t leave anything to chance. Flights can be cancelled. Hotels can overbook. Visas and/or International Driving Permits might be needed. If you don’t have a travel agent to handle details for you, create a list to double-check that every aspect of the trip is planned and that you bring along everything you need. Call ahead to confirm all reservations. Keep copies of all confirmation numbers and bring them with you on your trip.
Consider travel insurance. Dream trips can be expensive. In the event of a natural disaster, civil unrest or medical emergency, you could be forced to cut short a trip and incur additional expenses. Travel insurance, available through the Auto Club when booking a trip with AAA Travel, can reimburse all or most costs of a cancelled or shortened trip. Several levels of coverage are available – ask your travel agent.
