BURBANK, Calif. — Signing up for a gym membership during tax season may not seem ideal, but when it’s only $10 a month, there’s no better time to start than now. Burbank Athletic Club (BAC) is extending their special promotion until the end of April.
“It gives people the opportunity to still budget this into their lifestyle,” says Greg Bedrossian, owner of BAC.
With two locations in the Media Center area and in the north district of the city, with L.A.’s finest instructors, the center caters to the community with programs varying from indoor cycling and Zumba to boot camp boxing and yoga. The center also makes its services available to non-members. BAC makes it inexpensive for those who, say, just want to take a yoga class for a month; they can do so without being a member, Bedrossian says.
The community’s support has allowed the promotion to continue since February, and the center has become successful because of it. It was a leap of faith when the business attempted the discount, but after seeing results, gym memberships have tripled. In addition, the web traffic on the gym’s website has increased from nearly two dozen to thousands of hits.
The business is not only thriving from its website hits or its recent sky-rocketing memberships, but it is also giving back to the community. For the fifth year in a row, the gym will be participating in the annual Care Walk of Burbank on April 28, held at Johnny Carson Park in Burbank.
“We believe in the cause. It’s really nice (as a business) to have an opportunity to put money toward helping others,” Bedrossian says, “and this gives us a chance to do that.” Since Bedrossian was personally asked to be involved in the walk, not only has his business benefited, so has the cause.
The 5K walk will benefit students in the Burbank Unified School District (BUSD) with youth counseling. Last year, over 1,100 students were served via the Family Service Agency school-based counseling program. The free program provides excellent clinical and psycho-educational care to students in elementary through high school.
“I have found the program to be a key factor in our efforts to help students deal effectively with the interpersonal issues and conflicts that impact their performance and behavior in school,” a BUSD administrator says.
BAC will be offering free body composition and body fat percentage tests in addition to a special promotional discount to all participants in the walk; something the business generously does every year.
