The San Fernando Valley Master Chorale and ‘Messiah’ Festival Chorus present their annual Holiday Concert, featuring Handel’s ‘Messiah,’ Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mel Catholic Church, 20870 Ventura Blvd. in Woodland Hills. The Chorale will be led by Dr. Donald Caldwell, renowned as a past choral director at Cal Tech for 24 years. Approximately 80 singers from throughout the Valley area will be on stage, representing some 15 church and temple choirs, in the Christmas portion of this internationally-beloved work. This annual event will make the 14th year that the SFVMC has hosted the popular Messiah Festival Chorus, dating back to 1991. Soloists will be Grace Balint, Annalise McLain, Theresa Danne, Lindsay Patterson, Kevin Story, Colm Estridge, and Alex Britton. Also appearing will be the Premiere Chamber Chorale performing selections from their upcoming tour to Baja California, Mexico on Dec. 13, under the direction of Maestro Danne. The Chorale will be appearing at the Teatro de la Cuidad, La Paz. At the invitation of the government, the televised concert will be entitled ‘Joy to the World.’ Tickets for the Dec. 7 concert are general $20, seniors and military $15, students $10, and families with 2 adults/2 children, $40.
