In 1975, 150,000 American children were being drugged for a little-known condition called Hyperactivity Disorder. Today, there are an estimated 12 million children in the U.S. diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, taking powerful psychiatric drugs for a “disease” that may not even exist!
Is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder really a disease or is it symptoms with various causes? The FDA has stated that “no distinctive pathophysiology … has been delineated.” The National Institute of Mental Health confessed: “…we have not met the burden of demonstrating specific pathophysiology.”
There is an alternative theory to this epidemic of learning disorders and hyperactivity. In a study published in The Lancet magazine, “116 out of 185 children with ADHD responded favorably to a hypo-allergenic diet.…” In other words, neurological impairment can be caused by allergies, problems with absorption and assimilation due to candida (yeast) and heavy metals including mercury.
Dr. David Katz, OMD (Doctor of Oriental Medicine) in practice for 25 years, has specialized in the process of detoxification and allergy elimination. Using a non-invasive stress test and urine analysis conducted in his office, he can determine if these are possible causes of neurological irritation leading to the symptoms called ADD and ADHD. His belief is that a drug-free approach should be explored before the use of addictive drugs — with known and unknown side effects.
